Right bank of the river Aisne, about 100 metres downstream of the crossing
of the roads to Bomal, Villers-St-Gertrude, Manhay and Heyd, in a small
quarry just besides a house. Please take care not to disturb the owners
of the house, and to park your car at a convenient spot!
HISTORY:
The cave entrance was revealed thanks to a small quarry. It was the
Groupe de Recherches Spéléologiques de Comblain (GRSC) that started digging
in September 1985, and discovered the cave exactly one year later, in
September
1986.
ACCESS:
The
cave is gated because of its very nice and well preserved formations.
Normally, all visits are guided by the discoverers of the cave, the club
GRSC. Contact Paul Xhaard. You can obtain his coordinates at
the Union Belge de Spéléologie.
DESCRIPTION:
Length: 588m, Depth: 34m
It is a small cave, developing in a cube of appr. 60 x 90 x 34 m, but nevertheless
totalling nearly 600 m. of cave passages, due to the very complex nature
of the cave. It consists of several parallel rifts, often very close
to each other. The cave begins with a narrow 14-metre pitch and features
a couple of well decorated rooms.
RIGGING:
A ladder or rope can be useful in the P14 (entrance). However this
pitch can be free climbed as well.
