YEAR BY YEAR
1984...
CLUBLIFE
- Introduction of the "Avalon Report", a short
newsletter that is send to every member every two weeks.
This tradition has since then never been broken, and this
newsletter has proved to be of capital importance for the
communication in the club and between members.
- Dark clouds are packing themselves together... The
majority of the club wants to leave the "Arbeiders Toeristen
Bond" and join the Flemish Caving Federation (V.V.S.), which
is a real caving federation that is founded in 1984 after the
fusion of two other Flemish federations: VVSA en SVNB. The
only ones that don't agree are the "older" cavers, who
prefer to stay with the ATB "walking asSociétéation" .
BELGIUM
- We get more and more ambitious (especially thanks to the
driving force of Paul De Bie) and seek often the more
"reputated" or more difficult caves, such as Trou
Bernard or Abime de la Chawresse.
FOREIGN CAVING
- Hardly 6 months after the foundation of the club, the
"junior" cavers can already be found in the French
"Doubs" department. We are only capable of doing
some easy caves (such as Cavottes) but we soon get the taste for
those big french caves!
